um from what i know that fish is pretty rare but i dont think its as rare as they are saying. i work at an aquarium petstore and we have a very large selection of saltwater. ive been there for about 2 years and i think weve gotten this butterfly in at least 2 times. although the butterfly we get is labeled tinkeri butterfly it looks exactly like that so im guessing its the same.

The tinkeri (Hawaiian butterfly) is found around the Hawaiian, Cook, Marshal, and Eastern Marquesa island chains and is not considered threatened. The flavocorunatus (yellow-crowned butterfly) is from Guam and is considered endangered. The two are similar. this info is from fishbase. the yellowcrowned has a yellow bar at the nape of its head.

only 2 a year?????........... smells fishy.

Sounds about right according to fishwatchers and fishbase.

Don't buy fish that are endangered.

I would say this is one of the most rare angelfish in the world, almost impossible to keel in home aquariums.. Peppermint Angels (Paracentropyge boylei )
