I am not saying that they are all related to breeding but think about it... they are worth FAR more as breeders than as individual fish...
You'll notice that these things work in waves and there are copy cats out there that see things like this in the news and think "thats a good idea... I could make a few bucks by doing that" but then don't have the hook ups... or the know how to actually pull something like that off... which is why you end up with the retards that kill all the fish they stole (even more retarded for stealing them to begin with)... I would look at some of these storys as Predatory animals but the vast majority as thefts with a good percentage knowing what they are doing... And I'm sure that most of these people if they are so well versed in handling the fish to begin with understand that a Kois pattern is as unique as a finger print so wouldn't try to sell them off (at least not locally) so... the next best alternative is for breeding stock
