it looks nice actually.

however, try it with a blue background. ull see how its color and pearl will light up. ;)

ur busy green background is taking away his nice brilliant colors.

Thanks for the answers and comments. Keep em comin if you want, good or bad :)

I think the background is a good idea and I'll try and take some more pictures of him soon. He is growing insanely fast still.... Plus I think he's awesome cause he lets me pet him.

I think it's purdy:) It's grade purdy!

From my understanding grades range from AA-D, a AA FH is one with a pronounced hump& dark lateral markings from head to tail, follwed by grade A, a B grade would be one with lat.markings only covering half of its body H-T,or T-H.follwed by grade C, and a D grade would be one with little to no lateral patterns. the grades come into play because chinese folklore says the markings can represent words or numbers within the chinese language, and owners of FH have struck it rich playing lottos using the "numbers" they see on their fish. And the bigger the hump the more prosperity the owner of FH's will experience. hope this helps answer your ?;)

This may have been accurate 4-5 years ago, but doesn't really apply to todays FH. Case and point, this ain't no "D" grade:

For the first ever FH competition in US grading was broken down like this:

1. ZZ Cataglory -
Overall Head/Face (25%) / Body (15%) / Marking (5%) / Pearls ($15%) / Colors (15%) / Finnage (15%) / Overall Shape (10%) ... total 100%

2. Kamfah/Jin Hua-
Overall Head/Face (20%) / Body (20%) / Marking (5%) / Pearls ($10%) / Colors (5%) / Finnage (20%) / Overall Shape (20%) ... total 100%

3. Free Marking (Open Class) -
Overall Head/Face (10%) / Body (15%) / Marking (5%) / Pearls ($20%) / Colors (20%) / Finnage (15%) / Overall Shape (15%) ... total 100%

each category is graded 1-10 and weighted according to the above

about dang time!!! this is the first time ive seen a good detailed answer reguarding this subject.
thanks alot!!!

You already know your FH is a low grade FH.
To me, it's a average FH and it looks like a pet type. All FHs make good pet fish.

If you want to step into the FH hobby where FH lovers change FHs like clothing then your fish would be graded as a low grade as you heard.

For a pure breed keeper, this is a nice fish. Despite looks, FHs are cool ass fish.

Absolutely

But hey, what if I only want what ppl like?

I was seriously like that when I was young.

I didn't date the girls I liked. I dated girls other guys liked and talked about. I didn't know how to check out girls when I was in HS. I just took what the croud said was good..

Then I was threatened and picked on by ppl because I was innocent and handsome and girls liked me.
