Terrific color and terrific fins but his body is very compact compared the the gts I've owned. Beautiful nonetheless

Thank you for the compliment! Someone did think it was a short body even at 2-3 inches, just when I got him 8 months ago. Is it the fish itself or am I not just giving it enough room? Any advice?

To me he looks about 2-3 inches. Even the sd is bigger in the background in the 1st pic. I would give him a 4 for now because he just an average looking gold saum. For being 4-5 inches his orange on the top and back fin are very thin. No trailing top fin. He seem thin for 4-5 inches. He does have alot of potential as he matures. Good luck with him!

My male gt almost killed my female a couple of times and they where starting to outgrow their tank :(

So that's the reason huh. So you kept the female or did you give both away? :(

Hey I appreciate it for being so critical! It's my first GT so I didn't have anything to compare it to. I do agree about the trailing fin not being there yet and I can easily say he's around 3" without measuring the caudal fin. He is currently 8 months old. When you say thin, should I try upping his portions? Any tips diet-wise? Thank you for the kind words :)

Here's a FTS to give you more of an idea of their scale:

I wouldnt up his portion unless your only feeding him a couple times a week. I fed mine once a day until 5 inches then slowed it down to 3 times a week. What i ment when i said he was thin was how thick he is if he at 4-5 inches. I have owned 2 Gold Saums and by the time they hit 5 inches there body started getting thick, but that could be the camera angle on the fish too. I not sure what u do feed him but a varity diet helps alot. As for me i feed my Hikari gold pellets, Omega one pellets, omega veggi tablets, aglae waffers, peas, frozen krill, frozen blood worms, frozen shrimp and frozen emerald entree. I just rotate the food so he is always getting something differant. :) By the way i like the FTS, looks good.

I'll be honest...

I think Hammer is the Hulk! Green Monster!
The shorter body isn't my personal preference but based on colour and such he is a definate 8+.

I think a larger tank would definately help things...
