So I'm fairly new to planted tanks, some of you may know I'm into terrestrial plants to help with n03 reduction:
But this time I wanted to try and create a lush, beautiful aquatic environment for my /\/\onster Piranha rather then solely focus on nitrate reduction..!
I used eco complete substrate and pfs on top, lighting consists of 2x 33watt 6500k CFL and 1x 24" Eco Lux 20watt florescent tube made for plants. As for C02 I've been injecting it
but the cost of these disposable cartridges are a little ridiculous, so I'm switching to API liquid c02. The only inhabitants are 3x bamboo shrimp, 10 or so ghosties, 14-16 home bred guppies, few snails and my Denticulas Piranha in a 40B. I do a weekly 50% wc and I add some nutrifin fert and API leaf zone after the water is changed. For filtration I have a ac110 and a 750gph circulator. I have the lights setup so the tube comes on first then about 30min later the 2x 33watt CFL kick on, then at night the CFL's kick off then 30min later follows the tube and the bubbler turns on.
Apart from my inexperience of aquatic plants this tank been absolutely amazing. I've run into a little algae problem in the beginning but haven't had anything major in some time. This tank is about 12 weeks old, I'd like to know any tips or tricks from the pros to possibly tweak it and make it better.
This is what it started out as:
Thanks for taking time to look, greatly appreciate any and all insight. I'm looking to try some moss to carpet the substrate eventually as well.
