So I'm fairly new to planted tanks, some of you may know I'm into terrestrial plants to help with n03 reduction:

But this time I wanted to try and create a lush, beautiful aquatic environment for my /\/\onster Piranha rather then solely focus on nitrate reduction..!

I used eco complete substrate and pfs on top, lighting consists of 2x 33watt 6500k CFL and 1x 24" Eco Lux 20watt florescent tube made for plants. As for C02 I've been injecting it

but the cost of these disposable cartridges are a little ridiculous, so I'm switching to API liquid c02. The only inhabitants are 3x bamboo shrimp, 10 or so ghosties, 14-16 home bred guppies, few snails and my Denticulas Piranha in a 40B. I do a weekly 50% wc and I add some nutrifin fert and API leaf zone after the water is changed. For filtration I have a ac110 and a 750gph circulator. I have the lights setup so the tube comes on first then about 30min later the 2x 33watt CFL kick on, then at night the CFL's kick off then 30min later follows the tube and the bubbler turns on.

Apart from my inexperience of aquatic plants this tank been absolutely amazing. I've run into a little algae problem in the beginning but haven't had anything major in some time. This tank is about 12 weeks old, I'd like to know any tips or tricks from the pros to possibly tweak it and make it better.

Thanks for taking time to look, greatly appreciate any and all insight. I'm looking to try some moss to carpet the substrate eventually as well.

Really nice bro. Its impressive to see the starter vs the current pictures. If my umbees werent such bastards I'd try to do something like that

Very nice! Wish I could plant but everything I keep decimates them.

Only plastic here 😐

Yea my red belly piranha tank is the same but I can get away with lucky bamboo and it looks decent.

thanks man and I removed the lucky bamboo from that tank. Its filled out nicely and I've really enjoyed seeing it evolve. I just need to figure out a cheaper way to deliver c02....! And am I the 1st person not to attach Anubis to dw or rocks? Seems fine in the sub?! Nice talking to you man, been a while. Is Homer still around?

Don't know about Homer. I'm in grad school on top of working full time now. Plus works been busy so I can't be on nearly as much as I would like

Looks great and will even get better as the plants grow and spread. Your plants look very healthy. What happened with your lucky bamboo?

Yeah I feel that. Keep on keeping on bro. Cheers

thanks. I put the bamboo in my 125 red belly piranha tank. Really the only plant that they wont decimate plus I needed to make more room in the 40b for plants!

Recently added some serious co2 and in just a few days huge difference:

Just ordered a Milwaukee solenoid, red sea needle valve and a co2 checker. I may eventually consider a reactor?

Maybe overkill for a 40b lol:

Harmony:

One of the biggest bamboo shrimp I've ever seen, almost tops the size of my piranha:

your tank looks great.

I like it!

Thx

Appreciate it, I really enjoy it and that's all that matters. Just got some Java moss and a micro sword today. Co2 meter, red sea needle valve and solenoid comes tomorrow!

Been awhile since we've chatted, got those pothos growing?! ;)
