i got bit like 10 times by my 2 old GTp..... i want a hot snake

venomous snake made great pets, do handle it with extra care and a lot of research.

having kept rattlers and a gaboon i dont recomend you get one for awhile get more experience with other more aggressive snakes and for a starter hot get a copper head then work your way up imo from keeping them and having to always have friends who knew hot snakes here with me when it was time to feed or clean the tank or whatever with the snake they are not worth it i sold mine when my friend got locked up(completely innocent) only a select few people i truly trust with my life

a gaboon , how big? didnt get a chance to rear it , what rattlers, nic? , encounter with a copperhead once when i started this hobby (pet shop).

i like gaboons but i can get baby rattlers for free

If your going to get a rattle snake atleast get a captive born one. Wild collecting only adds stress to declining populations, plus it is prohibited by law in most states (state and often federal depending on the species).

Ok first of all who ever said Ive been bit by my gtp over 10 times don't get into venomous. There is somethings you should know about venomous before you get into it. First when you are owning/keeping venomous you represent everyone in that hobby. You do something stupid and it reflects on everyone. You get bit for playing with your timber rattler and then the local government thinks everyone that owns venomous snakes plays with them. 2nd and most important you need to set up a bit protocal for the what if I get bit instance you need to know what to do in that situation if it were to happen. Knowing what to do incase of bit could be the difference between life and death. Also don't please don't get into venomous cause it's "cool" that is the wrong reason to be in a "deadly" hobby. Keeping venomous is a very dangerous hobby don't let anyone tell you other wise if you have any doubts then be safe and don't get a venomous snake. If you want to get some great info and ask some real pros about the hobby to to venomousreptiles.org I'm a member of the website and they are great people. Also about wild caught versis captive breed go with CB wild caught rattlers have a bad habit of not eating and being infested with parasites. Spend the money and get something that is well started. Check with local laws also I know a guy who had venomous snakes inside city limits where they were illegal and he's sitting in jail for a few years the local law doesn't care why you have it there is no room for mistake. If you have this animal in a city where it is illegal or county you could be facing several charges like endangering peoples lives and other stuff. I'm very adamint about going about venomous reptiles the legal way I've been fighting for 10+ yrs to keep them legal in the state of Tx. If you have any questions please please ask.

Thanks
