Raw or cooked??????

I know someone else that throws food in frozen, i've always been opposed to the idea myself, it just doesn't feel right somehow?

I can say though, after this topic i did try the rays on cooked, raw, shelled and unshelled prawns and they seemed to prefer cooked and with the shell off

Hope everything is ok T1
Hi mate. I think it all depends on what they get use to. I had rays years ago that i fed raw and cooked, they never took pellets. I now have rays that have only ever been fed raw prawns (and mussel). They love them shells on or off. They also love pellets. But i have the young hybrid she was on pellets when i got her. I have put her on raw prawns to fatten her up. She has grown an inch in a month easy. But now she won't touch pellets! But i found this with the other rays when they were young, same thing happened. But i always take prawns out the freezer the night before i need them and put pellets in the same container and leave in the fridge over night. The pellets obviously get wet from the prawns and expand. This got the young rays back onto the pellets and they now eat them either soaked in prawns or dry. I am sure the young hybrid will follow suit when i add her to the other rays.

I'm certainly in favour of feeding raw wherever possible and also not exclusively feeding seafood as I'm concerned the amount of salt contained isn't natural. Balanced diet is key, so why not balance/supplement cooked which is oven more convenient, with as much raw as possible

Because cooking kills any nutritional value for the rays. It's not worth the time.
Mix up the diet, but make sure the parts you are mixing up are right for the animals you are feeding.
