That's what I meant- raise them to adulthood. They need to eat constantly. If you've ever kept juvenile gar, it's pretty much the same- keep them surrounded with small live prey. If you want to keep some, it would be worthwhile to go ahead and start some daphnia/blackworm/scud/etc. cultures now.
I tried keeping a bunch a few years back. I mainly fed mine Ceriodaphnia dubia supplemented with assorted dipteran larvae and other small aquatics. I tried to keep way too many and ended up losing them all overnight; I believe one died first and crashed the water quality.
