As for rays, try steering away from the delicates, like the Flowers and/or Tigers. I wouldn't do it. Also be careful with rays that are on the "more active" side... like leos, henleis, and/or pearls. They often like to explore and swim around in the middle and top areas of the tank. This may irritate or "spook" the pleuro(s), possibly causing them to strike at the ray's disk, or even worse, cause them to jump out of the tank. Like what Miles suggested, I would also go with a strong healthy stable motoro, or other ray with similar traits & behavior.
