The stuff I have is fine for them I've had one on it for almost a year with no problems, and this guy is showing no adverse effects.

I don't remember what that sand is (brand) because I got it so long ago, but the stuff I use now is aquaquartz.

Offtopic but some filter sand is silica and some is quartz. Don't be like me and read the bag or at least think about it before you dump in 150lbs of it..
