I picked up 4 breeding motoros on 4-30-08. They were transported by car for approx 6 hrs in large bins with air stones running. All were acclimated into the same system. 3 started eating right away. 1 did not. She ate nothing for 52 days. She has lost a ton of weight, her pelvic bones show, and there is a serious dent between her eyes. I offered her every food possible, including what she was eating for her previous owner. She still refused food. Finally, today, she ate some smelt. I thought I was going to lose her. If she hadn't been in such good shape when I bought her, she would never have survived this long. The longest hunger strike I've seen a ray survive prior to this was 35 days. I hope she recovers and continues to eat.
I'm curious to know if anyone has had experiences like this before, how long their ray went without eating, and what they did to try to entice them to eat.
