Ray ID?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's not a small difference in size...a 12" wide Retic requires a far small tank than a 24" wide Motoro...

retics stay smaller but who has ever kept a retic stingray alive for more then 2-3 yrs. I have had 1 die on me for no reason. Water parameters where perfect. Healthy 11'' female ray in established tank. I think it was one of the biggest retics untill her death. Either way just up grade your tank and get the motoro.

Ive had my female retic for over a year now, never had any problems at all...ever...and it was my first ray... I have her in a 150 with 2 canisters, do my water changes about every 2 months or so, feed her twice a day...retics arent hard, just have to do your homework and dont buy unless theyre eating...i also bought her at about 4 inches and over a year later shes only about 6-7 inches, so they dont grow very fast...dont be discouraged, buy it, you wont be disappointed...they may not be as cool as motoros or leos, but at least you can say "i have a stingray in my tank" lol.

A year could be luck. So could 2. Tell us about your retic after 3-5 years. Chances are it will end just like Sean's- Up and died for no reason. Then how are you going to feel investing years on a ray that up and died on you for no reason. Made me angry towards the hobby when it happened to me. I opted to give a different species a try and haven't looked back. Rays are a big investment. Don't sell yourself short by getting something that's gonna let you down in the long run.

If you don't have room for a Motoro then look into true Hystrix. They don't get much bigger then Retics and I've never heard a Hystrix owner disappointed in any way, shape, or form with thier ray.

And for those preaching Motoros needing so much bigger tanks then Retics take into account tails. Disc width isn't everything, tail length can be a factor too, unless the retic allready has a "F"ed up tail.

they do however stay much smaller then motoros

this is why you get hystrix :D

Imo retics are to delicate and hard to feed moroto to big leo to expensive and hystrix just right :D

(note i have no experince with rays what so ever all i know is from reading)

i was kidding lol

but serioulsy how big is your tank ??

that might be ok for alittle while

but you need to shoot for a 180gal ( i belive 72x24 ???)
