intresting specimen..i would venture a guess as scobina/henlei by colors.a complete guess.:popcorn:

The pics are 2 different wild caught rays.
I thought Scobina also, or even possibly Signata (?).
I am so far unable to obtain a better catch location than " central Brazil", otherwise a bit secretive :) that's only a couple million square miles so...

your observation about rows of spines is interesting, do the pups later develop more spines?
 
I have no idea but if I had to guess I would say scobina/henlei but very well could just be scobina, either way, very nice looking ray.
