What is the correct id for this species? A friend saw it in an aquarium fish market in India, Calcutta.
Gangetic stingray?? Any info would be nice.....
It was in the native fish section along with species like peacock eel, tyre track eel etc.

Florida Ray. They are a saltwater ray that travels into freshwater.

Yeah they sometimes call this the atlantic freshwater ray..... but freshwater it is not.

Interesting! Wondering how it got it's way to Calcutta, India!

Yeah! And I'm pretty sure this was in the native fish section and not imported from abroad.

But this may be correct also hadn't heard of it before...also called the pale edged ray. And they are around India.

Yeah..... does look like the atlantic stingray.... but since this specimen, in most probability was found around India, it could well be the Dasyatis zugei, the pale-edged stingray.
Would like to know from the experts though.
