This guy is for sale in UK, just wondered what you all think it is. Listed as hybrid stingray, wild caught?

I'm guessing either a hybrid or mantilla.

Seen this forsale a few times personally I would not buy it the hip bones are showing a crazy amount and am surprised it's stil, alive I doubt it would survive shipping

Would my tank with my upped filtration be good for a hystrix

Nah I'm not. Was curious to learn what it was, it's an area I'm way down on. I would love a micro montoro tho!-)

Definitely not a mantilla. It looks like a ray commonly imported under the name hystrix, but is actually what is called a false yepezi
Isn't a false yepezi just another name for sp. ray?
The mantilla label is just a generic term for naturally occurring hybrid. I don't think anyone here knows the background of the Ray and I threw out a name based on the pattern. If we knew wether or not it was captive bred we would be able to speculate what it was.

I attached two threads talking about the species in question-

Post 8 on this thread shows a good example of mature yepezi rays-http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/threads/yepezi.159715/

Yes, while the name false yepezi is the name of an sp. ray, so is mantilla. However the two are distinctly different. Mantilla rays are usually considered hybrids (usually with some form of motoro in them, which is evident by the orange coloration in a lot of them. Usually in broken up spots.) False yepezi are considered to be its own species, just unidentified and not scientifically described or studied.
