Ray Parents vs. Pups

I agree- pull the pups. I've never had a ray parent eat a pup, (I breed motoros) but I've never left them with them for long. I have not found it necessary to pull the males, as they've never gone after pups for the few hours they are in the main tank before I get them moved.

I also agree that running a pup tank on the same system as the parents is a good idea. I run an odd shaped (48 x 40 x 14) tank (about 115 gallons or so) on the same filter system as the 480 gallon parent system. This way the pups get top notch water quality, don't need to be acclimated to a new system, won't get eaten by bigger fish or rays, and are easier to feed as the big rays can't eat all the food.

i must admit i was scared to leave the pups in the main tank :(

but it worked out fine for me if anything the pups chewed on the adults :D

The parents will bully the young, one of mine got crushed... I'm lucky I'm not a ray with it's parents.
