My boss at my work has a 4' wide 5' lond 2' tall pond that he would give me for free because Ive helped him out so much. Would this pond be suitable for life for a pair of a trio of motoros or possibly other rays? I personaly think it could but just want to see what every one thinks, also because I would much rather spend no muney on a pond then spend alot of money. Im a 16 year old guy and it takes me a while to make this kind of money and I would prefer to use this pond :D

To small for a trio of motors you will need somthing around 8'*4'*2' this will work for a while but you will need to upgrade that might be a smart disision since it is for free and then after you move the big motors into the big pond you could use the small one for pups

The only problem would be is that I couldn't see my dad letting me go any bigger. My parents just dont really get it :( But if I produced pups using this smaller one, he might give in. Is it possible to produce pups with this pond? Will my rays be healthy in it because thats my biggest priority.

My parents were the same when i got my pond at first it was a 300 rubbermaid and then they saw how big it was and they made me get a 150. I was so mad. I eventually talked to them and we agreed that when he out grows his house i can get a bigger one so you might want to try the same thing

It is possible to produce pups with a pond of this size, I would say go for it give it a try and if you have any luck maybe your parents will allow a bigger tank. That is still a decent size area for motoro. I would try marbled motoro as they tend to stay alot smaller then the peru ones and would be better suited for a tank of this size. Good luck and please keep us updated. Mike

gor for it.... hell think about this way it free and you can stash money to upgrade later... I'd say a good 4 years or so....

I think you'd be fine with a pair in a tank that size. We are keeping 6 adult motoros in
8 x 4 x 2 tanks with no trouble. Bigger is always better, but 5 x 4 x 2 should be big enough for at least a pair of motoros and probably a trio. Just filter the water well, keep up on water changes, and you should be fine. A drip system would be even better than water changes.

I just purchased a pair of motoros from a local guy in michigan who bred them in a 100 gallon tank. He knew it was too small; that's why he sold them, but it shows you that with proper care these rays can survive in small tanks. That being said, they should be kept in large tanks to be fair to the ray. I think a 5 x 4 x 2 is fine. Just don't over stock it and take good care of it.

I agree with Mike, Nic, and Stingray Man. Go for it. If you can get Marbles, all the better (Mike gets some nice ones in, by the way!).

wait marbles stay smaller? i have never heard that before.

not smaller just seems they grow slower than peruvian motoros
