Motoro rays get to a disk size over 20in. and retics are quiet small. I would say that you have the with great for a paie of motoros and retics, the length if possible can you make it bigger if not, only a pair would be OK or maybe a trio. Did you look at the sticky Miles posted up on Stingrays on "Freshwater Stingray Profiles"??

why would it fall apart?... that stuff is used to make furniture etc...
its 25mm thick and really strong.... there will be a pond liner covering it so it wont get wet
 
If it does get wet it will fail. The resins and glues used to make MDF are not intended to get wet at all. CDX Plywood will be the best bet. The X in CDX refers to exterior. The glues used in it will hold up to some water being splashed or spilled, and give you great piece of mind.
