OK it has taken me a awful long time to get my fish room going the two 300 gal rubbermaid tubs that i have in my basement are creating too much humidity. i have tops on them and its still too humid. it has been ruining average 70%. i have been running a standard dehumidifier in a 12'x16' room that has a large bi fold door to a another room. just yesterday i got a different dehumidifier it is suppose to be equivalent to 7 dehumidifiers. it reminds me of a air exchanger.so fair much improvement i am at 63% with just that dehumidifier running. i only have one tub heated so far and i am also planning to get a 480 acrylic made in the future. i am seeing small spores of mold developing in the basement not much but i know if humidity level is not low enough this can be a huge problem. i think i can get a another one of these dehumidifiers and install it . if all this fails i will have to shut it down. i tried this on indoor pond form and it was not very responsive so i thought i would try it here. i know a lot of people have used ponds for there rays what was your experience? what did you do? i am not willing to ruin my house to keep my rays.

thanks
john

keep a few small compact flourecent lights on all the time.... this does help with mold growth.... also i would run something like 400 cfm directly out of the house its much more energy efficient than running dehumidifier...

thanks nic what is a cfm a air exchanger of some sort? this new unit i have does exhuast out of the house and runs on 31 watts of electric. seems to be helping but we will see only been running less then 48 hrs.

CFM is Cubic Feet Minute the amount of air you move every minute. It is just a exhaust fan that moves air out of the room.

You should look into an Air Exchanger.. I purchased my Airiva-150 on eBay for about $400, works good, does my whole basement. holds most the heat..

Absolutely agree. I have had many large tanks. If you try to take the humidity out of th air with a dehumidifier you will run into hundreds of dollars per month in electricity. You need a air exchanger.

how much current do you have on top of the water? As I have 3 large open top ponds and tanks. And I stay around 45-50% With lids I'm now around 35-40%

man im surprised 35 to 40%. one tub runs just 800 gph and other runs 1400gph. this new dehumitifire is helping feels alot better and is about 63% but there is like a little cove that is were my steps are and it had a ton of condisatrion and now is much dryer. so you made a top for that rubber maid?

Yeah I made a top for it outta that 1inch Styrofoam. Well a big thing is I only run 600gph in my pond. But I have almost no top water movement. Like you can look down and it almost looks like glass. I think that helps alot! I never run my dehumitfire.
