I am going to get a new tank in my basement. I would like to know what size i would need for one maybe a pair of marble motoro stingrays with an oscar and a jaguar and a gar??:confused::screwy::screwy:

It much cheaper to get a rubbermaid 300 gallon pond! My rays love my 240 gallon stock tank. Its footprint is much better than a standard 265 gallon tank/ Nice big oval tank. My rays have never been happier. My male is finally acting like a man. I miss having a better look at them but they r happier.

if its in your basement and money is no object then bigger the better read a few of the other threads they have about size in them but it is all about the footprint but then you still need some height to it.
a tropical pond would be great

As big as you can afford or as big as you can fit. People never regret going too big but always regret going too small. I think 6x4 is min for a large adult female motoro. You need to think of how to add a big filter too.

The pond or rubbermaid is a cheaper alternative but just watching rays from above is missing the best of their activity IMO.

You can always find a pond with a viewing window in it.That is what I am going to get, which is a 270 gallon pond with a viewing window for 800 dollars.72x36x24 is the dimensions.

thats not a pond thats just a bigish tank my tank in my bedroom is larger for a pond you would want at least a 6X4X4 andthats only a small one.

I would say 8'x4' would be the smallest footprint for a female Motoro and bigger is always better when it comes to tank size. If you are putting a male and female plus few other fish I would try to go bigger if at all possible. And in my opinion if you can't do at least that size foot print than do not go with Motoro's, go with hystrix, retic or another smaller species.

I was thinking about doing a 500g ray tank but the more I think about it the bigger my plans get. I am at 2000g now and I still may go bigger.
