thanks. i like the retic rays but i kinda wish i bought 2 motoros. little easier to get on other foods and a little more color. but im happy with mine.

my male got a little scratch on his back, hope it heals ok.

Nice collection!

Very nice collection. It's good to see someone keeping retic's successfully for once... I know I've tried my hand at enough of them and failed.

What are their disk sizes and lengths?

They look great! I wish I could keep something like that.:)

i dont see then being hard to keep healthy. maybe the live blackworms are the key. dont know. time will tell. what problems were u having?

disks are about 7" right now. 15" total length. tails are super long.

I've kept 4 different retic's. The only one who lived for more than 4 weeks was the first one I bought (impulse buy from an LFS, got me hooked on rays).

I didn't treat her with prazi-pro (didn't know to at the time), just dumped her in my tank and started feeding ghost shrimp and blackworms. She did great for me for 8 weeks. I was hooked, so I ordered another retic (male) from another lfs. I still didn't know about internal parasites, so he went straight in with the female. They were fine for 3 weeks, eating great and active. Then one day the male was breathing hard and wouldn't eat. The next day, he was dead, and the female was breathing hard and wouldn't eat. The day after that, the female was dead.

The next two were both "rescues" from different lfs'. I treated with prazi for both of them. The first never flourished, and died within 10 days. The other was great for about 3 weeks, eating good, active, no signs of stress or illness, then was randomly dead one day.

The next ray I bought was a captive bred motoro, and I don't know if I'll ever go back to retic's, unless I get a chance to buy one that's been in captivity long-term and is eating other foods than blackworms.
