Rays and acrylic

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Maybe ill paint the bottom of the tank so it looks like sand and have little or no actual sand in the tank..hmmm..now i have to think about this some more..

My tank is cell cast acrylic and has teeth marks on the sides. You can't really see them unless you get down and look up to catch the light glaring on them.

Oh wow that sucks. My ray kinda stands up against the sides and does like a blowing thing where i can see teeth but im not sure if hes actually scraping the glass or not. Im paranoid now.

I had my rays in a acrylic tank with a fine pea gravel and it was fine

I wouldnt use sand as with the ray going up the side glass all the time it would be like rubbing a bit of sand paper over it which will make scratches for sure

Rays need some kind of substrate as it's just cruel not to give it to them

A very fine smooth gravel will be fine

I'm a die hard acrylic fan with mine. The up side is that you can remove scratches from acrylic if you want to FAR easier than you can glass.

I also love acrylic but with my new tank it was not poss as it would no go throw the door the size I wanted so the tank had to be made on site which wasn't a option with acrylic as no one would make it on site

Acrylic is much clearer than glass but I just put a opti White glass front on my new glass tank as the other 3 sides were being covered so no need to waste money on opti White on them 3 sides opti White is as clear as acrylic
