The plants are attached to driftwood and the driftwood is hung from the top by plastic zip ties (in my case an acrylic tank). This also opens up floor space for the rays and creates dark areas for the rays as well. The plants are not biotope appropriate, but I try to keep the rest of the fish in line with the natural habitat.
I use "stunner" LED's for lighting.

Thanks all, I saw your tank before posting this thread and it sure gave my ideas. Getting somewhere now with huge bit of wood with plants all over it up in water.
Sand is substrate, trying to think of way to plant onion plants and valis at back now...?
