Rays and plecos?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
x2 i have never had issues w/ Panques and "delicate fish" i woulnd't trust any omnivorouse species of pleco and obviousely any predetory ones.. not all plecos are "algae eaters" stick to the veggies imo... and don't forget rays have taken out plecos as well..

I'm well aware of what the plecos eat, as I went through a major pleco stage. But I have gotten mixed responses. I've seen carnivorous plecos kept with rays successfully for years and I've also heard a lot of people say stuff about plecos "attacking" rays but no one I've ever talked to has had it happen to them. It just strikes up a lot of questions

My panaque didn't attack my rays, it's actually the other way around.

My Regular pleco did some major damage to 3 of my rays so tossed him into my pond.

So here you go on both accounts, it's up to you to take the chance or not

I have tried a couple times with albino gibbiceps and adonis pleco. Never worked.

A few people get away with it, most don't. I wouldn't both again. The best tank mates for rays are ones that occupy different levels of the tank.
