Anyone ever have their stingrays chew the silicon along the joints of a tank? I built my first tank/pond and I didn't do the nicest job with the silicon. There are little pieces sticking up where I was smoothing it out and every now and then my motoro will be biting at them. Occasionally there is a little piece I find in my filter and you can even hear the silicon snapping when he pulls it. He doesn't eat it, just kinda plays with it it seems but I am worried he may eventually break a seal.

take a razer blade to where he bites it so there isnt anything to pull on (its a learned activity) my female motoro likes to bite my glass when she is hungry... wouldnt be an issue except its acrylic.... i had to put up some egg crate to keep her from doing it... always in the exact same place

well next time do a nicer job.... make sure you did it well enough so the ray cant cause a small leak.... that would suck

Turkeyboy - Your ray was chewing through the acrylic? That's crazy! Kinda makes me worried now with pond liner in my tank.

I'll definately try to cut off what I can. Next tank, I'll do a neater job. I used the hobby sized tubes of aquarium silicon to do the window and it was such a pain. I bought some of the GE Window + Door silicon for a caulking gun to redo me overflow and it went so much smoother.

chris_wb - Did the silicon get stuck in him? or is it poisionous to them?
