Rays and vacations

So, I am sure this has been covered many times before, but what is better, starving rays for a week or letting someone who doesnt know what they are doing try to feed them?

Get someone to feed them every other day but measure out each feed for them before you go and a bit less than normal this way the fish should eat it all

Its a bit different if you have other fish in the tank as if you don't feed you stand a chance of the rays trying to pick them off

This is exactly what I do.
Put each days pre-measured food in freezer bags.

SNAP, I even write which day of the week on each bag so its nice and simple for the person who is feeding them for you

I rather starve my fish when I go on vacation, then have someone feed them. Feeding without doing water change could be a disaster waiting to happen

I dont get it.??? :what:

Do u do wc after every feed?

I have my dad trained on what to do. I write him out a little checklist on what to check

I also have all my tanks on webcams so i can access them from my iphone. Its very nice to be able to see them for peace of mind

I have somebody feed for me, using pre sized portions. Would rather get a little overfed than lose tankmates to hungry rays. Having a drip system I don't need to worry about water changes ;)

This.. and generally we go on vacation at least once a year for a week.. and the only people I trust w/ any fish experience are my parents who we vacation with... I feed them well the weeks following up to the vacation do a nice big water change the night before we leave... and have whoever is "watching the house" just check the electrical ect and they know to just leave the fish alone unless they see something dead ( and if so they are to call me before touching anything) I've never gotten that call yet. I feed them when I get back the next few days sparingly and do a water change as soon as I'm happy that everyone is fine. More precautionary then anything.

We've had power outtages ect while away ( still didn't loose fish!) which is why I have someone check to make sure filters ect are running like normal. If you can trust someone to just do that and not "feed the poor starving fish" then imo worth it even if they comes once mid-week ect just to make sure.
