Rays for a 125?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My pup tank is a 150 tall 48"x24"x30" and it works great for growing out pups and younger rays. They love climbing the higher tank walls. The largest ray in there at the moment is around 7" and shes moving out on Saturday. Its pretty obvious once they hit the 7-8" mark they need more room to thrive.

How does this help with answering ColeFishing's questions?....

So a 125 breeder which is 6' x 2' x 16" wouldn't be big enough because Hight is important?

16" is shallow but footprint is certainly most important, a 6'x2'x16" would last longer than a 4'x2' tank. Over time as the rays grow the need for more tank height comes in to play.

Height comes into play especially when they are trying to breed and flippng.

You need to stick with all males for smallest size and no breeding. Most tanks are Min height of 18inches which is fine

I would just want one ray. Or do they have to live together like schooling fish.

I have a 5+ year old male Marble that is only 8-9" across..... Grown probobly 2" over the last 4 years. Raised in a 6X3, then to a bigger tank then most people patroling tank sizes even have. Didn't make a bit of difference. Will be going back into a 180.

All the people whining about not believeing max size on some of these Marbles need to go get one and raise it themselves so maybe when they see that regardless of who cares for them they just don't get that big. Maybe then they won't be so narrowminded.
