rays in pool !

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
at the very least seed the biomaterial in a cycled tank. But yeah, don't put rays until you really get a good grasp of fish keeping

holly **** .... its a wunder that my fish didn't die after the move and are still alive today ... thanks for all ur input ppl i really learned alot tonight!

You should get an RO unit of some kind rather than buying the water at the LFS... look at the GE units for less than $400, they produce 500+ gallons/day...

the RO water at the LFS is only 20 cents / G i'll be damed if i'll put an RO system in a rental lol....
i do have a friend thats a plumber he may be able to get me the ROs at cost and install it for trade !

i was thinking of using my filters and 30% of my old tanks water (which i know is in good condition) to start the cycle , then add more to the pool as i do water changes !

Well using your 'old water' will do nothing. Read up more on simple water chemistry until you know those type of questions and THEN get rays.

Your old filters will help seed but your old water will not.

You are on the right path by re-searching and asking quesitons. Spend a few more weeks learning as much as you can. Rays are not begginer fish by any means, but some one with just a little experience but alot of research and willingness and abillity to learn could also be successful.

wOOt ....while i reserch i can cycle the water and save my money lol!
i also raed that plants help out with braeking down the amonia ..... now knowing that the rays will tear the hell outta the plants i was was thinking of using some plants in a tank ! so basicly : Pool > W/D > tank with plants > back to pool !
