Texas doesn't allow Freshwater Stingrays, Family Potamotrygonidae - All species unless you have an exotic pets license. I've grown very envious of y'all ray keepers and want some. Is there any rays I would be able to keep that aren't in the family Potamotrygonidae? Not very familiar with rays and figured y'all could help me out before I start getting to excited.

Thanks
Clayton

Get the license!

You want to post the easiest way to obtain the license?

I imagine that there is only way... application to the state for the license.

Nearly impossible for an individual, I was being sarcastic with you:eek:, if you knew anything about the license you would know the difficulty in obtaining one. I know of only one indvidual on this board that has a license in an illegal state, and he has a phd in biology.

There is a group of freshwater atlantics that are collected in Fl and available through some LFS.

that rarely survive in freshwater tanks because of their metabolism for any amount of time

If you live in Texas, like I do, rays are not an option...........legally

Yeah, I do have interest in saltwater rays. Not too fond of the atlantic rays. There's an e-mail address on Texas Parks and Wildlife website to get more info. on obtaining an exotic pets license. I looked into this when I wanted piranhas. You have to have contingency planning for water changes and such. Pretty much just like obtaining a gun dealers license from the ATF. At anytime they may come in and search your home. It's retarded if you ask me. Texas has much worse things to worry about, but I guess im stuck here so I'll deal with it and look into some saltwater rays. Thanks guys for y'alls help.
