Rays lethargic question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Did check your ph when testing water My main tank just had a ph crash, which was my fault. My king hen pup took or the worst, all the rays were very lethargic. They all pulled thru okay with a lot of tense moments even the water changes were nerve racking, because I live right on the edge of the colorado floods. So correct me if I'm wrong but as ph goes down the toxicity of ammonia goes up ?

I am still battling the ammonia in my big tank. I literally do a water change every 2-3 days! Thanks to Wilm my water changes are sooo easy it is no big deal. But the stress sucks! I'm not sure about the PH & ammonia question. I'm sure someone on here will answer that soon. I would like to know myself. My PH was not too low. 6.8-7.0.

Sorry to hear about this... I always find the most effective way of adding BB quick to a tank is using seachum stability...buy a bottle quickly. Add this stuff and it will eat up the ammonia quicly.. or get a pal to give you loads of seeded bio media and add to your sump or canister.

When I got my big tank... I transferred all my fish and cans.. but the cans were off for 3-4 hrs.. I used stability for 7 days and the rays and big tigers were all fine.

Do less amounts with water changes, change it to 20% every other day and add prime to detoxify the ammonia and add stability to help the bb grow. Believe it or no, this will help the tank re-cycle quicker
