I would advise against clipping it your self... to many risks involved...
 
yeah, decided it was a bad idea. thought it probably was before i posted, just wanted confirmation.
 
A lot of places will clip barbs in touch pool animals.... we trim ours. Not something the average person would ever need to do. Most of us who keep rays at home are well aware of the damage they can inflict and respect them for that.

Clipping on a regular basis is very stressful on the animal and person doing it.
