It really isn't much different, allthough I did re-separate the upper tank and change the filter around again... I put up a bucket filter with a flower pot pre-filter for it this time!! I did it so I would have a separate tank since I didn't want to build a QT tank.

I'll try to get pics of it later...It's totally rigged...yet kinda cool also!

It should be next week when I get to put the second pool in. I'm working on a side-job right now to pay for stuff...

Also picked up a friday/saturday night job teching cars at 2 local racetracks. I'd much rather be racing...but the racecar is gonna have to stay in the garage for a while. All the extra money is covering the bills while I put everything I can back into equipment and livestock.

I'll post a bunch of pics during the pool construction. I still can't decide quite how I want it, but I have some cool ideas for filtration...

Ok, here's my rigged up instant wet/dry filter with a flower pot pre-filter/distribution system. I packed some one inch coarse foam in the flower pot in a basket form, and the pot has 8 holes around the edges to dispurse the water evenly into the bucket which is a little over half full of lava rock. I used Lava rock out of the other sump so it would already be clean and working, then I added new lava rock into the large system so it wouldn't be so likely to change the ph or fill the bottom of the tank with pumice that would scratch the rays bellies.

Thank you! All the support and help I have gotten here is very motivating and it really means a lot to me. I was very intimidated when I first started this thread. I had never known this site before I got the first rays, hadn't had the Rays even for a month, and I never read any of the DIY info before I started putting things together and decided to start this thread.

I really expected that a lot of this stuff had already either been done, or that it was way behind in technology..or "primitive".

In a way, it's a lot of fun evolving this stuff, and as my mom said, there is no wasted experience.

if you really want turtles i found that going on a nice relaxing canoe trip for fathers day i can usually catch about 5 baby turtles with a small butterfly net or with my hands. the smaller the better for what you are wanting. other times during the year i only see larger turtles.

That was actually my plan... ;) Although I wouldn't have known when to go, so thanks! We are due for a canoe trip also...love it.

Thanks!

awesome pic man, im loving the setup a bucket filter, looks great and love the pics of the rays

I made it! They are downstair acclimating, and I got just a sec to put up pics.

Yes, I brighten all my pics up...these are sometimes impossible photos for me to take...

It's very neat to see such a small female. Can't wait to see her grow, but this is a terrible picture since she's way down in a bag.

The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th pics are a Leo x mixed hybrid. I think he is just as nice as the pics I saw. He's smaller than my motoro male, but he certainly is ready to go. Claspers are all the way out!
