Rays with mbu puffer?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
that's a lil too risky for me....I looked into this before and was told its not a good idea..... wish you the best of luck... post some full tank shots when you try it...

I think the key is to raise them together from a very young age and to keep them both well fed. But again its still very risky!

i know a mbu that bit off the eye of a p14... so its a gamble...

I tried it with a young mbu about 5" and some 5" retic rays. Was ok for a about a month with one nip at the end of the tail of the ray and then swapped the rays for a pair of slightly bigger rectics about 6.5". The Mbu just wouldn't leave the rays alone and after an 1.5 hr I took out the mbu and rehomed him.

Shame as it was my dream combo but would never try again. Mbu can get more aggressive as they get older but you do hear of an odd gentle mbu. I have a friend who had one that wouldn't even touch live food let alone nip anything.

Just make sure you have a back up plan or spare tank!!

Hello everyone.

I was wondering if anybody has ever tried to keep rays with an mbu puffer?
I was told that the mbu will most likely bite off the rays eyes?

Any information would help me, thanks!

I wouldn't recommend it because I had already tried.
