i had put this off for like 8 months but i finally got the guts to try it out and............ it worked. my oscars have actually calmed down ever since being introduced to other fish and seem less aggresive then when they were by themselves in a 77gallon tank. i have had them all in the same tank now for a month and no problems at all. my arrowana and my bala shark actually nip at the rays more then the oscars do but this is very rare and useually by mistake. i will post some pics a soon as i get a chance, for now i just wanted to gloat for a bit:)

i dont understand why people will tell you not to put o's in with rays, but they say yes to pbass. all pbass that ive seen are way more aggresive then oscars.

Oscars are territorial..

Peacock Bass tend to be more passive aggressive, only picking fights with similiar conspecifics that might threaten food source.

Oscars will be territorial just to be territorial. If your O's decide to pair up, and the Ray (which dosnt understand boundries and territory like a cichlid does) decides to swim in the O's area, it could be bit, hard.

I have never seen a Peacock bite a fish out of territory, I have only seen them confront other large fish, often newly introduced to the tank.

I see Oscars often bully other fish out of their territory, and even chasing the other fish repeatedly..

It might work for you right now, but don't be surprised if your Ray starts acting funny.. secondary effects of stress.

Also, that's quite the bio-load you have.. What size tank and filtration are you running? Make sure the Oscars don't cause an ammonia spike.

i added one oscar first then 2 weeks later added another one. the tank is 180 gallons with a wet dry filter ,a 60g sump, the pump is pushing 1200g per hour. also i change about 10 gallons of water every day or two and i do a 60% water change every weekend. i do put alot of time into my fish tanks and if for some reason the oscars start to become territorial i will first try to move some of the decor around and if that does not make a difference then i will move them.

currently in the tank is
1 x silver arrow
2 x oscars
1 x xxl bala shark
2 x motoro rays

i am also looking to get a fire eel but if i do i will get rid of the Bala

your lucky to have such peaceful oscars, but in most cases it probly wouldnt work either because o's are so messy or aggression issues
