man...the only thing that kills it is if I have to get bulbs other than the ones I have. I have 4 T5 10k bulbs

Extreme newb Q... what does Basking do for the turtles?

It warms them up, helping with their metabolism, helps produce D3 which aids in the metabolism of calcium... It also dries them off helping in the prevention of shell rot and skin fungus...

However, different species of turtles have adapted to different ways of life, so some need to bask a lot, some bask very little, and some don't bask at all.

I'll try to find out for you bout the lights. LoL, I need to get me a UV meter.

these turtles are very easy to maintain and they can adjust to any type of environment and very fish friendly. i have all mine in a 60 with bunch of fish and fake plants and they love to hang out on top of the fake plants. basks isnt necessary but its completely up to the owner whether they want to set one up or not. and as far as lights go regular t-5's should be ok. they eat mostly everything, like pellets, krills, bloodworms. so food wise just feed anything you fish eats.
