RBP always freakout??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Temp will very a bit cuz my a/c but 79-81 and lots of hiding spots and 1 25 watt bulb, and cycle? does that mean size of pump cleaning the water...

So what your tellin me is when i do a W/C i have to wait two weeks???? before i can put RBP in?

nnoonononono. When you get your NEW tank. You know your empty awesome 125gallon tank you plan on moving your RBP into. That tank you have to "cycle".

Step One: Get the Tank

Step Two: Have a filter, and fill the tank with water

Step Three: After two weeks let the water "age"

Step Four: On your way to your petshop, take a sample of water and ask them to test your water. And then if everything is ok add some feeders in.

Step Five: If everything is ok after a week add your RBP in. And if you dont like the way the feeders look in your tank your RBP will eat. Eitheir way they'll eat them.

really no need to "age" the water now a day, the aging process is to remove chlorine from the water and usually that will take place within 24 hrs.
You can use Prime to treat your tap water and can start the cycling process ASAP. get a API master water test kit for fresh water and you can save a trip to lfs. some lfs will test with similar test kit (which is good) and some will just use some all in one test strip which could give in correct results.
adding as much water from the old tank to new tank can also help.
I don't recommend using feeder fish to cycle your new tank as they may carry disease or parasite into your new tank, unless you quarantine them first. and they are not healthy for your rbps if you leave them in the tank for your rbps to eat.
as long as your water in the new tank is treated (and water temperature are the same) you can move the filter and fish from the old tank to the new tank at the same time as the same amount of fish will produce the same amount of bio load as they were in the old tank so as long as your filter can handle their bio load in the old tank it can handle the sme amount of bio load in the new tank. However, you still need to upgrade your filter to match the required turn over rate for your new tank. just add the new filter in together with the old filter and the new bio media in new filter will be established soon.

my blood red parrot was like that it'll just take a while for some fish to get used to you

You can't realistictly compare the skittishness of a BRP to a RBP. lmao.

I would follow JP's advice to a T to quickly cycle your new tank. Hopefully you cycled the first tank before you put the Ps in
