i miss my piranhas
and now im planning on getting more in a few months or so
but i wanted to get different types but my reptiles are using up most of the room i have. but evenentually i am going to put p's in my 55g. i was thinking i could put up a divider and get mabey an elong or black piranha on one side and mabey 2 or 3 rbp on the other. i have 2 eheims ( i no crappy filters) but these actually work good. i was thinkin i could put on filter on one side the most powerfull being on the rbp side and the lower power filter on the rhom side. and i have a few pumps i can use for extra current.

what are you ideas on piranhas that would work well in a seperated 55?

Hmmmm seems crowded...I say get around 3-4 Mix Pygo in the 55 gallon. OR stick to a lone piranha like an elong, rhom or manny.

IDK man, kind of risky.....but your tank your decision. :)
I would personally get a group of Caribes or Pirayas going....gosh how I miss mine. :(

but there not gona be together
there gona be seperated by a divider

I saw 2 rhoms in a tank with a divider at my LFS that were about 3-4 inches long. One of the rhoms jumped over the divider, slid between the divider and the hood, and ate all the fins off the other rhom. They grew back pretty quickly and both rhoms survived but it was pretty crazy.

each rbp needs like at least 20g H2O by itself when fully grown, and all the pygocentrus species are shoaling fish which means you need at least 4-6 fish.

The Serrasalmus species on the other hand mostly need to be kept alone. In a 55 you could do any of the serras, but a rhom might get too big eventually (18").

ya but rhoms grow an inch a year
and i can have a single adult on one half
i should be fine on that idea

I don't claim to know everything about piranhas, in fact I'm just now keeping my first ever p, BUT rhoms are smart as **** and highly predatory. They make cichlids look like little girls. If that rhom can figure out a way to get to the RBP I can guarantee you he will will kill, or maim it. You can take that to the bank. Just something to consider.

lol there is a very small chance the rhom is gona get over to the rb's side
he wont be able to get over the wall even if he tried.
are you guys forgetting that major piranha dealing sites like aquascape have them seperated in the same tank?

id go with the one rbp on one side one rhom on the other
