Rbp injury Help!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would net the fish out and dribble concentrated anti fungal medicatIon - recommend acriflavine (straight from the bottle, not diluted) directly on the wounds. use gravity to spread the medicatIon away from gills. take your time, you want to stain the fish tissue. can stain fish right through the net if not your favorite net.

this way you get a strong dose right where it's needed. less damage to hospital tank biofiltration and less medicatIon used.

That’s great I have just ordered some, I was just about to ask what I could do about the water in the little tank as today it’s very cloudy (due to injury) I done a half water change earlier today would you recommend two or more water changes a day to try keep it clean, or could that be causing to much stress on the fish? Will Acriflavin be safe for the other fish in tank? I have a friend that is happy to keep all the mollys in his tank until I have a plan for the injured rbp if that is a good idea?

Update on injured rbp, he/she was swimming around tank and more aware until I done a water change this morning, got home from work and it’s not really moved all day I think the stress of water change doesn’t help. Acriflavin arrived today I have just netted fish out and and using a little medicine syringe I have covered the whole wound used about 5ml of solution also as the fish was stressed from being netted out I took the opportunity to do another water change, now going to leave it for as long as possible. Medicine suggests using it every 7 days, is that correct with the way I’m doing it? Thanks

Hope that helps. If they are as tough as astyanax tetras, it could heal up. Thought this was bad, but healed up just w/ water changes.
