Bought my rbp around a week ago and he still hasnt eaten yet, ive even put a small feeder fish in there which i really didnt want to do but it doesnt seem interested atall

Any ideas why??

Thanks

you only have one red belly piranha? how big? what have you tried feeding it?

Yeah only one as the tank is only 40gal and ive always wanted one i was thinking about adding 2 more but it might be to cramped when they get bigger

Ive tried small feeder goldfish, hikari massivore, shrimp, smelt (frozen fish) so far and its not interested :S

Its around 6-7 inchs roughly

Thanks

my guess is its just getting used to a new environment and will take something soon. i recall my much smaller rhom taking 4-5 days before it ate

^ apparently kevin knows everything??? All cattiness aside, just keep trying. As long as Pacman's healthy, he's not going to starve himself to death. Do you know what he was on before you brought him home? That might help him get his appetite back. Just leave your lights off for a couple of days too, solos feel more confident and will move around more when it's dark. Good Luck *smdh* is chat-speak acronym for "shaking my damn head" and impresses no-one.

Lights are always off, think the guy mentioned he was on pellets but didnt mention what kind and said it was eating smelt aswell so i bought a load of that,

Would it be ok to add 2 more in the tank?? or would it be over crowded

You're at max capacity for piranhas in that tank. if you upgraded to a 55-60, you could squeeze a couple more in. You could go with some tetra or silver dollars as dithers, other fish movement (besides feeders) might get your fish to "come out of it's shell"
