Trust me man, when u appreciate something u wanna be assured its in good health or condition, I'm the same with my fish, if everything isn't 100% I get uneasy, when he takes his first bite you will feel so good, the lfs u got him from prlly didn't give him the best diet, so if he takes pellets and talapia/shrimp ur in good shape and he will grow like a weed. I offer my rbp of similar size pellets everyother day and talapia or shrimp every friday.

So they get flesh 1x per week and pellets 3x per week

He will get to 8" in a month or month and a half, but after that it may take a few more months so id say 4 months to hit 10" if he is healthy, they slow down when they become adults. That's when u stop feeding them often.

6" to 8"in month, month n half? I highly doubt it. Rbp slow way down around 6-7" might take a year to reach 8" or even longer. You guys tell him he can't add more rbp but then turn around a couple posts later sayn add 4-5 dithers like silver dollars. I say add more rbp & another filter until you find a bigger tank. Cut back on feedings a little, don't skip on waterchanges.

Lol it will not take a year to hit 8", unless ur not compensating TL

Adding just one is horrible advice, like I said before 3 is better, just upgrade within a year and Ull be fine.

Can't wait to here that ur rbp ate, when u put the food in gently walk away from the tank and sit still as u view, I know mine don't eat if there's movement, but that's a group. Is throw a shrimp in, or a few pellets.
