My RBP used to bite through plastic plants but that was only because they would chase a feeder in there. I had to pick plastic pieces out of my water all the time. I never had issue with them biting any cords tho. I hope that yours dont. Good luck

so thats where all those floating plastic plant parts are coming from.....hmmmm. Why didn't I figure that out on my own.

Afret years of having Piranha I can tell you that their biting plastic stuff is pretty uncommon, My P's never have bite anithing beyond organic stuff.

I think the possibility for them to bite the cables is pretty remote.

Regardless, If you want to feel more safe, you can take a piece of plastic tube about 3/8" and make a cut all long one side of it and you can put the cables that you think the P's could bite inside of the tube.

Cheers.

My red bellies will take chunks out of my plastic plants. I'll find little pieces of plastic floating on the top of the water.

My serra occasionally takes a chunk out of a plant, mostly when hunting feeders. The only other inanimate object I have ever seen him bite is plastic bags. When you bag him up to transport, or drop a bag of feeders in the tank to climatize, he bites through them sometimes.
