Wow, that really sucks....my buddy had 10 babies and as they got older the one that bullied the other started to eat the others....now he has one....sad story.

not true u can add more of the same size as long as u remove all piranha rearrange the tank and re introduce them at the same time there will not be any established territories they will be fine
:iagree:

Those are juvies and of corse if u dont feed them they will eat eachother but usually not the whoke fish Sorry for your lose man but u can always get another about the same size and they should be fine But make sure u dont miss a feeding or it will probally happen again

yeah P will do that

i recently had the same thing happen. i have had 4 reds, all are the same size. one day, they just seemed to turn on one and bit and bit and bit until there was not much left of him. i have expected this to happen for the last 2 years i have had these guys, but i was still surprised when it actually did. :headbang2

so if I wanted to end up with 4 or 5 RBP and I am starting with 3/4" fellas, how many should I invest in? I would say I am an average aquarist always learning and doing my best, but yes...I forget feedings and every once in a while a few extra days slip in between cleanings. would 12 be excessive? Also, at what age and how would you recommend culling to that number if I have more when they are big enough to satisfy my tank requirements?
