7 Argentea (and 2 Regani) in a 125 Gallon tank. The Argentea are 3-3.5 inches. I got 'em from Rapps. This will probably take years, but I'm hoping to grow these fish up some, move them to a bigger tank, and keep them all together long enough for a breeding pair to form.

This is the first video.

Nice group they look good alreAdy

Thanks. They're very active, very cool. But they didn't like that iPhone at all. I started the video, put the phone up and pointed it where they were all hanging out, and they just scattered. So the video starts on empty water. :)

First casualty this morning. I woke up, one of the bigger ones of the group was half dead, most of his scales gone. I moved him into a 20 gallon to see if he'll recover, but I don't think so.

I don't know if it was illness or violence, but given the reputation of Argenetea and small tank, I gotta figure it was a killing.

So I'm considering moving these Argentea into the 540. If they'll eat 3mm pellets, and none get sick over the next few days, I think I will.

Couple days ago, I woke up to another casualty in the 125--so I'm down to 5 now. At this rate, I figured I wouldn't have any left by next spring,, so I moved them into the 540 gallon hoping that more space would stop the murders--we'll see.

So, they're 4 inch fish in a tank with a few other 4 inch fish, and a bunch of 12 inch fish, too. They fit right in--they fight for food, push and shove, all that stuff even though they're the smallest fish in the tank.

They look awesome man, I was considering doing something similar. I hope it works out for you.

Hopefully with a lot more room in the new tank they will be fine

what I'm worried about now is my odds of getting a pair. With 7, I thought I'd likely end up with a compatible male and female after a year or two. But, now.....with just 5....it seems unlikely?

I wish there was some way to tell the gender of these fish.
