Anyone here into RC trucks or cars? Being 46 yrs old I grew up in the 70's & 80's when the RC hobby was coming on strong so I had all sorts of RC trucks and cars as well as boats and use to race in clubs and such. I got out of it back about the early 90s and then dabbled in it again back about 2000-2002 with some T and E maxx and modified clodbusters and a few 1/8 scale buggies.

Been about 15 yrs since my last truck.car but lately I have been finding myself somewhat thinking about it again (like I need another expensive hobby). Seriously considering buying some used clodbuster axles and brazing together a scale monster truck chassis using 1/4" aluminum tube like I did once before in the past. Not 100% sure I'm gonna dive back into it, but the idea is really sounding kinda good perhaps.

Anyone here into the RC hobby?

I used to have a rc truck until the neighbors dog got it. Is there any particular rc car you're looking at?

Pretty much same boat. I can't get into another hobby but I kicked around getting a monster truck together. I wanted to do a Lunch Box. I guess they need lots of work to handle half decent. If I come across a cheap TMaxx, I might jump on it lol.

I remember the Lunch Box, that was the Van right? I use to have a Big Bear back in the 80's and I think that was basically the same as the Lunch box only with a different body. Yeah it didn't handle very well. Was fun because it would wheelie a lot, but wouldn't do much other than that.

Have you seen that latest truck from Traxxas called the X maxx, that damn thing is $1000 new  I've bought real cars that cost a bit less.

Pretty much looking at buying a set of Clodbuster axles and then building my own tube chassis and then 4 link and working from the ground up with piecing it together with aftermarket and custom made parts.

Yep, a yellow van that pretty much did nothing but wheelie. I'm a little bit younger than you, literally a few years. I remember wanting all the cool cars and trucks out. But I always got the cheaper ones. I had a bunch of Tyco Nikko stuff. I remember the Monster Beetle, Grasshopper, Hornet, Clodbuster. A couple years ago when I was seriously wanting to get a Lunch Box, I saw a lot of the oldies being re released. I haven't seen the X Maxx, but yeah, I believe the price tag.

Hornet was actually my very first car back when it first came out. Then I got a Fox, Big Bear, RC10, and a bunch of others. I just started looking at them again in the past couple weeks and that $1000 price tag just blew me away. Back around 2000 when I got back into it for a few years I remember paying around $400 range for the Tmaxx and I thought THAT was a lot. Crazy what they want for these brand new ones now.

I dabbled in RCs some when I was in the military. Had a Team Associated RC10T. Thing was crazy fast. When I finally sold it the guy got 2 trucks, the running one and another full one save electronics with all the original parts. Over a year I replaced all the stock parts with the Team blue aluminum pro parts. The thing would do a wheelie for a block while burning off.

at 52yrs old im still big into RC. I build and fly long range multirotors. nuthin like throwing on the goggles, sitting in a lawnchair and goin out 10km and more. RC is expensive no matter whaat ur into. my snap-on dealer had a EMAXX truck on board his sales van as a raffle prize here a few months back. I bought sooooo many tools to up my chances of winning but lady luck was not on my side, I wanted that truck sooooo bad!!!!!

I have an RC off road buggy.

S Steve_C We seem to have a few overlapping interests.
