It started with the simple idea of having a prawn in a 20-gallon tank... then I added some japonica and cherry shrimp to that tank. The prawn didn't bother them and the shrimp flourished. I noticed one of the cherries had eggs. A couple weeks later I'm seeing little shrimp appearing all over the tank. I couldn't be happier. :headbang2:D

Haha congrats! When I opened this thread, I thought you were going to be mad about having the cherries.. I was going to say uhhh you can just sell them. haha I also have many rcs about 60 in my 29 gallon. (roughly)

I chose infestation because I thought it sounded funny. Really could never have too many of these guys running around. They are such beautiful little creatures and quite hardy too.

Congrats. Can you post a pic of them? I would really like to see them.

Here's a few pics. Darn things are tough to get on camera but admittedly... I'm probably not using the correct settings or even camera for this sort of thing.

First, the mom:

Couple by the rock and you can see a bigger brother cherry too.

Probably one of the best. Can see another japonica in background.

And for good measure.. the claw in his upgraded tank with cave. :)

Chicklette, heres a pic of two of mine if it helps any.

Demonte, hope you enjoy them as much as I do. I had them once before but now I bought quite a few more and have a colony. I might dedicate the tank to only them and other inverts later. Dark substrate really does make their colors pop.

Thanks for the advice on the dark substrate. Might give that a shot. I really didn't care about getting the cherries at first but now I have a tank that is pretty much dedicated to them. The babies from this first batch are growing extremely fast. There has to be about 40 of them total and they measure about a half inch now. Looks like the mom has another batch ready to go. :)
