@RD has my vote without a moments hesitation.
Personally I like his blunt approach, often its needed. I also find a lot of his remarks very amusing. His vast knowledge of the hobby speaks for itself,its all over the forum.
To me, he's one of the stand out characters
on the forum, often the driving force of interesting debates.

Bring on the gold, I can't think of a better candidate.

So you all have me cyber stalking Neil atm.....great.
I saw this post and decided like others Neil does a lot for the forum and a lot for the hobby because of what he posts. So yes he deserves gold! But then I read what C Chicxulub posted and my resolve wavered. I needed to read the requirments of the gold level of contributor. I read it and started my stalking. In my first look into Neils past posts one thread took me to three different threads (based on the same subject though) that had him engaging members in conversation and linking information in a way that was easy to find and follow. He carried the one thread mostly by himself even though somone else had started it and most of the other that chimmed in weren't the op. I looked a little farther back and found a lot of simular threads with informative links in easy to access and understand style. There are alot of people that dont like it when you disagree with them and hes found his share. But he perseveres and still tries to help those who need/want it even though those who dislike or are put off by Neil are attacking him while hes trying to help.
I think with what i saw and have seen first hand he accomplishes the goals of the gold tier.
Long story short..... GOLD!

Thx twentyleagues , you stated very nicely what I should have clarified more in OP insofar as justification for the nomination.

And to extend further on one of your points, that's the truth about Neil: he might be in a heated debate with you on one thread, but 10 min. later without reservation he'd be helping save your fish on another thread if you needed it.

I agree with twentyleagues, islandguy, and stanzzz.

You take the good with the bad. Some folks can’t handle the truth, and need it to be sugarcoated. Don’t expect that from Neil or you will be disappointed.

I live in fairly close proximity to Neil and he is very highly respected in other forums local to us as well. People who probably don’t even know his real name speak about how he knows what he is talking about. Yes he is one of the most informative people on the site, but that isn’t what this nomination is about.

I would go as far as to say, he is one of the most consistently active members on here. He has a way of knowing about so many different fish in areas I don’t even think he keeps a lot of. I was very surprised to see him in a few sections here including the chichlas. I feel like he drives conversation more than the average chatterbox, but with facts, logic, and sciencey content rather than facebooking like a bunch of heavy posters do. If Neil isn’t worthy of this award, no one is. Imo.

So yes he’s got my vote as well.
