ok so my dad has had this trouble recently, over the past few months the other inhabitants in his tank are being more aggro to the RD and starting to stand up to it, well this is resulting badly.

about 2 months ago my dad 10" male carpinte got into a massive scrap with the RD and my dad had to divide the RD of to chill for a week or so. anyways the carpintes mouth and bit above his lip was badly cut, about a week after that we noticed the carpintes lips and for head were starting to sweal and his mouth was partially open by force, his forhead and mouth seemed to be filling up with thissort of puss stuff and after a week his like sadly ended, he was found dead with his face fully pussed up and blown up looked sorta like a puffed up parrot.

anyway i thought it was just some disease, i knew it had nothing to do with the water, the parameters were checked and everything was fine.

now recently this week the 8" male salvini gave the RD a go and now he is starting out the same way as the carpinte did.

do RD/midas' have a venom or something that is causing this?? it has only happend to the fish that have got into major fights with the RD.

is there anyway to cure this if so please help quick as the salvini has been grown up to this tank size from 1"

thanks

howard

have you ever posted anything usefull? :banhim:

I'm having the same problem. I have a carpinte thats had a messed up lip forever and he never gets into fights. I just found one of my flowerhorns the same way the other day, nothing wrong with my paramaters either.

And what you said is useful? :ROFL:You're a joke.

Do a search on my posts, I've given plenty of useful advice.

What every post has to be useful? Come on grow up and stop jumping on my back monkey. Let's not whore up this guy's thread.

Chill guys....

For the question. No they don't have any poison. It sounds to me that the RD is doing enough damage to the others to get infections.Keep your water good, maybe add salt or melafix to help with the healing process. You may have to move the RD.If the other fish are stressed, they will be more prone to disease and infections.

there is nothing wrong with the water, do you think its to late for the salvini?? if i add aquarium salt or melafix now could it save him??

This is what I was going to say. RDs have powerful jaws capable of doing sever damage to another fish.

Get the injured salvini out of there. Even the sight of the RD may stress him out after the battle.

not sure howard but this is what happened with my oscars when the vieja attacked, did daily water changes of 150 litres<that was all i did..1st week gandulf lay on floor perminatly, thought she was a gonna..with in two weeks they were in full health and even gandulfs lip grew back in 3-4weeks fully
