It is not too much of a size difference. 15 yrs ago I had a male Firemouth cross with a 8" female Green Texas. I many free swimming fry that made for great feeders.
I have a male pink convict that is about 4 inches in my 29 with my 2.5 inch tri spot female that laid 3 batches of eggs that my male tri spot didnt fertilize.
shes in there becasue the male flowerhorn beat the life out of her and the male con isn't as aggro. I have various tetra as dithers, but none of them bother them and they havn't showed too much interest in each otehr yet.
if they do breed thats similar to a rd kinda...sorta...i guess. I was hoping to get a sort of small flowerhorn and some wont be barred because my convict is pink. and the male has a pretty good hump.

I am pretty sure if they bred it would just look like a pie-bald Midas/RD. Who knows though maybe you can get a Barred RD which would be pretty cool with the big lips and all. This should be a fun a project to do. I would attempt to do it.
cons are whores. they would do it with a cactus if you put it in their tank. i am still curious to see how it would turn out.
