it really looks great..but i dont think is the proper front set up..
fronts need more open space..just like your haps..and those rocks are to sharp for them..they can and will scrap in them when scared..
ohh..
i did a setup like this coz i read on cichlidforum that fronts need deep rocky habitat. thats why i provided them with ample caves n hiding spaces :).

will keep n eye on the sharp rocks but i had a mixed african setup before with the same rocks for 2 years.
will try n replace the sharp rocks next time i re-do the setup

Dosen't drift wood lower ph? Nice set up, a bit too crowded for my taste. (the decorations I mean)
the water i get in my home is 8.5-9Ph.
don know abt driftwood lowering PH, but i do keep a close eye on the Ph and i also have some crushed coral in the filter to buffer the Ph

nice tank. id take some rocks out. i see theres different size fronts. dainichi's a good choice. i feed my fronts the xl pro too and i feed the feggie fx to my tropheus with some spirulina flake and a little nls.
again as i mentioned above the reason for adding more rocks was wat i read on cichlidforum.com

and also i noticed when i had my lil fronts in a 55g with very little setup they often used lose there color as in they used to turn white. That stoped happening after i did a very rocky setup in that tank.

Even i used to feed my trophs veggie Fx :D. i don know why i just liked dainichi better then NLS, so i used to buy every kind of food it used to offer

well your fronts seem happy..
i like your tank and your fish has great potential..but a another set up will be needed..:)

here is a link on some cichlid-forum front tanks for inspiration:

pay special attention to the tank in tanganyikajoe's post in page 4..one of the best i've seen.
have you consider some altolamprogus as tankmates..?.they are great aditions to front set ups too.

dont take me wrong..just trying to help..:)

I believe Mike owns stock in NLS....JK Mike.

Tank looks good and dont' worry about a few pieces of wood effecting your pH that much, especially if your tap is 8+. The only thing I am worried about is the filter seems a little on the small side. 18"x1'x1' seems a liitle small, and the fronts will only continue to add more and more bio-mass.

no no i m not taking it in a wrong way, i really appreciate the info i get from this forum.

very nice tanks it that link , but still it has left me a bit confused coz everywhere i had read that fronts need deep rocky setup but all the front tanks i see are almost very lightly setup.

i never thought of calvus, but now thta i do it really seems like a good idea :)

nice pics :D....awesom frontiz ...wish i had that big a tank :(
hmmm i also think a few rocks can be removed..will make some open spaces & happy frontiz;)...nehow awesom setup :headbang2
