It seems to me alot of people on this board ask foolish questions over and over again, like mixing serras with pygos and other common piranha knowledge questions. Im not knocking anyones questions or anything like that, its just theres alot of people here that must restate the same sh*t over and over again in replies every day. Joedizzle seems to be one of the most knowledgeable people in this forum as well as others. And im posting to engage in a "different" type of conversation, One thats a little more in depth and one that is not as common knowledge. So, im reposting this to get other peoples opinions, it was posted a couple of days ago but since noone read the original, maybe some one will read it this time:

The brandtii i currently have is nearing the 10 inch mark and is completely gold. I have fallen inlove with piranhas, brandtii and irritans beeing my favorite. its more of an infactuation really. i have also heard amongst the piranha boards that the smaller silver brandtiis are most likely female and the males will get larger and completly gold in color.. i know many piranha enthusiasts have said that there are no ways to tell serrasalmus species apart and most color differences are fish collected from different locales. Seeing that the brandtii is only seen and collected from the Rio Sao Francisco, i find it hard to believe that color would vary amongst individuals living in one body of water. Even if proven to be wrong ,then i would still like to own another brandtii to see if there is any difference in aggression levels and feeding strategies between the two color morphs.

Any comments or just conversation would be greatly appreciated..

Not sure if colouration can mark out sex of a brandtii. I think its a sign of maturity, maybe? One of my friends had a 10" Brandtii and that was a goldie colour also.
Another species of piranha I haven't owned but my friends one was really nice as well as being aggressive!
I know what you mean about repetition of questions but people have to start somewhere and its easy to ask, than trawling through loads of posts! I have it all the time on a piranha forum in the UK that I help with!

I see, I see.. Another thing I have noticed that every brandtii I have seen including mine all look different.. Besides the anal and dorsal fin line that is.. But that is some collection you have there.. personally too many tanks for me lol.. thanks for your feedback tho

IMO any question is not stupid question....other just wanted to know if it work or not, or just curious. if im curious about it I would post and i ask well. i know there is a lot fo same question out there, but we have to understand that people don't like to search before post..just post and get fast answer.

It's normal with these kind of question with any site and every site.

Im not looking to argue with anyone on here, that was not the purpose of saying what I said.. I do not understand how you can say that it is quicker to repost.. Especially, when atleast five or more posts on the first page alone are of the same exact topic with nearly identical titles. Like I said before im not knocking anyones questions or anything like that it just something I noticed. Im just saying the search bar is there for a reason.

And also, I do not believe there is a such thing as a stupid question either, but the amount of times a question is asked can get a little out of hand, YOU must agree..

oh don't get me wrong as well..i totally understand ya. im just putting my 2 cent in.

Besides the Topic of this thread is not to argue the repetition of posts, It was to discuss Serrasalmus brandtii and the difference in color and body shape between individuals.

Branti like any other piranha or Serra. every Branti body shape and color can be a slice different, however it's doesn't mean that it could be male or female like other fish IMO...Unless you got a proven pair to see if it male or female. Other way is cut up and open the piranha to see if there are eggs in there as female.

Thats true.. every piranha looks a little different from the next. But unlike some of the wider spread species such as the rhombeus, which looks entirely different between color and shape, the brandtii is in such a concentrated area.. which is why I do not believe it would need such adaptations such as size difference, color, back shape, how laterally compressed the fish is.. which all would change due to environmental conditions affecting the fish..
